I play tennis for years now a i use diferent brands and i can say Adidas Barricade any model are perfect and i always buy them because it gaves you confort, durability and confidence in the court best support for your feet plus helps with the speed, i always recommend it 100%.
I am always looking for good shoes to support my ball of foot - as it tends to hurt whilst playing. I tried them all! Finally I found them. I will never buy anything else again but adidas Barricade. Tried K-Swiss, Babolat, Nike. Came back to adidas.
Got these on sale and so far am mostly impressed. They look good and are reasonably comfortable. They are not as light (in weight) as the online description led me to believe, they seem about the same as my previous leather Wilsons. And the heel grip feels a little low... maybe it's just coz I've been wearing Wilson's for so long.
I knew that many people think Barricades are the best shoes for tennis, but when I first tried them I didn't like the feel. Too stiff, I thought, and I need more cushioning. So I spent months trying other shoes, fixated on finding the best shock absorbtion. (I had a very sore heel). I'd settled on the winner but a comment from a tennis forum stuck in my head: stability is the most important attribute in a tennis shoe. A shoe can have a comfortable soft upper and an extra cushioned sole, but if your foot is moving around in that shoe and the sole is introducing further instability between your foot and the court then it's making it harder for your body, not easier. I saw Adidas returns policy and got some Barricades to try at home against my chosen shoes, which felt like standing on jellies in comparison. They demanded far more of my muscles and the risk of injury from rolling was worrying. The Barricades were absolutely solid and stable, an extension of my body. Do an A/B test, side-stepping, stopping, turning, and remember that a shoe with such great foot support might feel a bit stiff until you've worn it a few times.
This is my second pair of barricades. Took a while to get used to the extra heel support but soon appreciated the cushioning especially when decelerating. Very hardware wearing also. Previous shoes have worn out after less than 6 months. I only bought these because they were reduced- the previous ones would still be going strong after 14 months of hard use. Note- you need to buy a half size bigger than your normal shoe size.
The new barricade 9 builds on the previous shoes and is back to its best. Great uppers really lace up tight. The sole and support are excellent as usual. I would still like to see a sole similar to the Novak Pro shoes, but otherwise a great tennis shoe.
Fantastic! super feel, great court grip, tremendous lateral support, snug as a bug as far as cushioning, comfort and insole support are concerned and to top it all off, they look great as well. Look heavier than they actually are. The forward sloping design helps with easier push offs for the explosive movement on the tennis court. Great colour and design combination. Super durable. Definitely one to try out. Simply sublime. I just hope they don't discontinue it.
Barricade 9 is an improvement on Barricade 8. It is also lighter and softer across the front from the Barricade 7 (which was a better shoe than the 8, which was too soft). Arch support and ankle support is impeccable. Little break in required.
Uppers are more comfortable with snug fit, lighter than previous versions. The annoying issue with the top eyelet digging into your ankle on the 8's has been sorted. The shoe has the same great stability & traction as with all the barricades I have used. I'm not yet sure whether I like how the mid foot area fits - which is slightly narrower than the 8's. Would advise trying these on before buying as the fit is different.
Purchased a pair of the 2015 model in Black/Red. Normal size is 10 and they were a little shorter than previous Barricades in 10. New colors out so I ordered Navy in 10 1/2, pefect fit but decided to return for the new Black with White stipes. Same size 10 1/2 but now too long. Tough tonkeep ordering shoes when the sizes ate inconsistent
love these shoes! extremely good on the courts! flawless tennis shoes. i cant wait to see other upgrades that they add to it. like the new boost that i have yet to purchase. highly recommend these sneakers!!!
First of all, I have two problems with most shoes: heel slippage as my heel is narrow, and sometimes pain in the inside part of the toe due to some kind of weird shape my feet have. For this shoe, no problem on the toe at all, they are comfortable quite quickly out of the box. For the heel, the problem is that I tried 2 sizes (8.5 and 9), 8.5 being a bit tight in the toe box, 9 having heel slippage despite the nice heel grip inside the shoe. Other than that the shoe is comfy, nice arch support, and lighter to wear than I thought. I would not say it is the ideal shoe for me, but it is worth a try. For me they are way better than other brands I tried (and I tried many...)
This Barricade is an excellent shoe but is built slightly different to previous versions (obviously!). I found that the 2015 version has more room in the forefoot and is slightly narrower. The "roomier" front was a little worry before play but after a few sets all you notice is that this shoe is definitely built for the job and provides excellent support. Looking forward to getting back on court with them soon....
It’s the second pair of the Barricade 9 I bought. The first one is white where I know went for the purple one. The colour of the white ones started to peel off on one side only a few weeks after I bought them. The 6 month outsole warranty is some kind of pointless. You will only get the shoe replaced once the outer sole is completely gone – basically once you have a hole in the shoe. If you are not playing a lot you will not wear it off. If you are playing a lot and you are serious about the shoes you will replace the shoes once the profile is worn – which is before you have a hole in the shoes. I’ve got the white ones for 5 month now and would have replaced them about a month ago. But I’m now wearing them off to get them replaced. Having said the above the shoe is great and no one else gives you the outer sole warranty anyway. It’s very stable – as all barricades – still light and comfortable. Although I still like the looks of the barricade 7 the best I’d by the 2015 again.
Thought I'd treat myself to a pair of high end tennis shoes as they were half price. Seem very good quality and I enjoy playing in them. Only thing I noticed is they are quite a bit tighter than all my other Adidas tennis shoes of the same size.
This is the third pair of Barricades and overall I really love these shoes. However my latest pair do not seem to be wearing very well. The chrome colour and adidas emblem has started coming off the side off the shoes and I have only had them for a month.
When I first got the shoes out of the box and tried them on, they felt tight, and I thought I would have to return them and get half a size or full size up. But this dissipated really quickly, I did a bit of twisting in every direction and just wearing round house, and I must say these are the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. Heaps of supports, heaps of cushioning, I love playing tennis in them. I'm trying to wear them out within 6 months to get a free pair, but they are seriously bullet proof. I play tennis 3-4 times per week on hard court, they and I'm now thinking it will be very difficult to wear them down. My children made fun of me for having purple shoes, I still say they look blue, doesn't matter what colour they are to me, they are amazing tennis shoes. They arrived really quickly, literally 2-3 days after purchase. Great service and great shoes. Will be buying again, or the next updated model.
Firstly, I've only used these shoes twice so although they seem great now, I can't comment in the long-term. I've used barricades for many years and although these aren't visually up to the quality of previous versions, in terms of fit, comfort and support they are.
I have some 10+ pairs of Adidas shoes. I have always ordered half a size up because they always tend to be slightly narrow. This shoe however is the narrowest I have ever ordered and because of that it is going back. I have ordered other Barricade shoes in the past so I know my size but these are just ridiculous - the neck/entry into the shoe is so small, you have to loosen the laces right off to get your foot in!
When I ordered the shoes at Christmas, I thought the bits that are actually silver were light grey. I have since received vulgar abuse for their vulgar styling. I don't know if the circular patterning has any function, but with 6 months play (usually on artificial clay), the discoloration makes it look as though my feet have some fungal infection If the Adidas shop in Manchester had been open still, I wouldn't have had to rely on a photo on a web site
The purple is disgusting.. and the white.. what a joke.. if you play on a onticar surface.... what is going to happen to the colour of your tennis shoe.. I hope the 2016 colours will be a pleasant surprise.
Just got this shoes today, and played tennis with it one hour ago. and I have to say that my size is US10, 1.83m height,I found out that the shoes isnt uncomfortable, heavy, it is perfect shoes to me now!
There are some changes to this new line of Barricade tennis shoes; softer upper shell means less break-in time and new look. For me, they did hurt the inside of my ankle for a while for some time. They are a bit narrow which are fine for my feet. My size is usually 11.5 but for barricades I sometimes go up half a size and got a 12. They look good too. I'm not sure about those circles though, but I guess they have to be there. Regarding performance, they are as good as it gets for a tennis shoe. I can say they are like a combination of Barridcade 7 and adizero feather 3 shoes. Easy on changing direction (the silver part is there to hold and brace the foot when changing directions), no slipping, hugs the foot, light and they feel low to the ground too, like a speed shoe.
I am really sold on these shoes, i play a lot of tennis and well fitted shoes are a must, i was fairly happy with the earlier model but these are WOW even better, sturdy base and light well ventilated upper body, fit like a glove, i would love an alternative colour but at this price :( i will make do with the one pair, Yes i would definatly recommend.
I ordered these shoes about 2 months ago. They were pretty expensive but wanted to be comfortable while I play tennis. When I buy a new pair of shoes I always wear them for one or two days at home and a office before I take them to my local tennis club, that is the best prevention how not to have any blisters. Anyway, I wore the Barricade about half of day and didn't want to wear them anymore. They are too narrow, my feet very pretty uncomfortable. I hated them. My feet are size 14. "Adidas, you have to make size 14 wider." I don't think my feet are wide at all. Plus my hills felt like the shoes might have come off any time. Can't be only negative, the shoes looked pretty good, better than on pictures.
