Comfortable and stylish runner with serious quality issues.

Great light weight road runner. Super comfortable upper. Adidas boost material definitely cushions when putting in some miles. Huge drawback is the Continental tread is completely bald after only 100 miles logged - a critical flaw for a $200 shoe! ... read more

I didn’t think it was possible to be better than ultraboost

Energy boost is more supportive than ultraboost. Less squish and more rebound. I prefer it. Ultra boost will be used for lounging where energy boost is for when I need to be on my feet and moving for long periods. I definitely recommend these shoes. ... read more

Very comfy, very bouncy

Really comfortable shoes where you can really feel the boost foam bounce you off the ground with every step/stride taken. They are also surprisingly solid, I was expecting them to leave too much room for my feet to move around in, but they are actually well encased. Overall, very pleased! ... read more

Great fit & build. Awesome cushioning

Fit true to size, upper is thicker than the ultra boost but breathable enough for a summer run. Cushioning is just great, just what you would expect from an ultra boost. They are a bit tight at first but thats just a minor picky complain ... read more

Really good training shoe for the long miles.

This is a really good shoe for getting out on long training runs and longer interval sessions. Whether your new to running or have plenty of experience these shoes will give plenty of comfort. Having worn other shoes from the range I know the sole gives loads of confidence in the wet while the uppers hold the foot snuggly. I know it has been said before but it's likely you'll need to get them a half size larger than your normal shoe. For some reason the Boost range have always been like this. I'd recommend these shoes for anyone with a neutral gait planning a half or full marathon, or newcomers after a quality shoe. ... read more

Phenomenal!!!!

I believe these shoes are the replacement for the Supernovas. I was fan of the Supernovas and was a bit concerned with all the changes adidas made, but I'm happy to say I absolutely love these shoes. It addresses every single complaint brought up by customers regarding the Supernova. The tongue on the Solar Glide do not slide because of the non central position of the tongue's eyelet for the laces. The heel cup does a much better job at securing your heel in place. No heel slippage without any added discomfort. The Achilles region is more flexible and more comfortable than the already comfortable previous iterations. Adidas also improved on breathability and overall comfort of the upper. Another improvement is is the lockdown through the middle of your foot. Just be careful to not over tighten the laces as they create a lot of friction with the eyelets of the shoes, which helps securing your foot in place, but does take some effort to adjust the laces before your first run. It's smooth sailing after that first adjustment, though. One thing that I noticed, but only on my first 1/4 mile with these shoes was the edge of the tongue against my ankle. I thought that might become an issue before fully breaking in these shoes, but that feeling went away just a few minutes into my first run in them and has never returned. Although these weigh about the same as the Supernovas, these Solar Glide feel way more nimble and fast than its predecessor. The ride on the Solar Glide is a bit more responsive, and therefore ever so slightly harder, than the Supernova. To put it this way, the Supernova (Glide 9) distanced itself from the Supernova Glide 8 and got more similar to the Energy Boost (now Solar Boost). The Solar Glide go back to its roots and have a ride more in line with the award winning Solar Glide 8. It's still very soft, as it is a solid daily trainer, but now it has a noticeably faster transition as the forefoot of these shoes became slightly harder than its predecessor's. In short, these shoes are great for long runs and recovery runs, but will not let you down whenever you need or want to pick up the pace. These are my favorite daily trainers, but they are fast enough that I would race with these without hesitation. Adidas gets sometimes overlooked by runners because of the fanfare some adidas running get from casual wearers and sneaker heads. However, they should not overlook models like the Solar Glide or the Boston or many other models. These are absolutely phenomenal. I loved them so much that I even got a second pair for when I run my first Solar Glide to the ground. Even got it in the same colorway, as I find the blue/green color way amazingly beautiful. Just a small bonus to an already amazing running shoe. ... read more

Worth every penny!

After a number of pairs of UltraBoosts, which I love, I wasn't sure whether or not to try the SolarBoost, however, I am so glad I did. The additional support around the ankle is excellent with the same comfort and lightweight feel as the UltraBoost. As most reviews have mentioned, definitely buy a half size bigger. Other than that I highly recommend them. ... read more

Very light & supportive

I purchased the Solar Glides through a running store and was pleased that they were as light as advertised. Like many Adidas running shoes right now, they ran a bit big in terms of length. For reference, my true shoe size is a 10.5, I usually run in 11.0 shoes, and the Solar Glide fit great in a 10.0 (same as my other Boost runners). The forefoot was a bit narrow, but loosening up the laces helped. It would be great in the next iteration of this shoe to have just a tad more room in the forefoot. With that extra room, the shoe would be 5-star. If you like your Ultraboost/Boost runners, give these a try - more structured but remain light and supportive. ... read more

Excellent cushioning

I had previously run in various versions of Supernovas, and have always got on well with them. I thought I would give these a try as I start training for an autumn marathon. These trainers are very comfortable - I went for my first run in them over the weekend, and the cushioning is great. This wasn’t to the detriment of speed too, and I was impressed with the pace I was able to maintain. All good, and highly recommended ... read more

Good comfortable runner

This shoe is great for running. The boost cushioning is comfortable without being too soft. The upper is lightweight and flexible (though not as breathable as the prime knit on ultra boosts). I wish it had more lateral stability for all-around cross training. It’s not great at containing your foot on hard lateral cuts, so it’s better as a runner than a trainer. ... read more

Best boost shoe I’ve ever worn!

I’ve always loved boost/ultra boosts, it’s hard to believe but I have over 15 pairs of adidas shoes which use the boost foam. This is by far my chosen #1, they do fit a little narrow however when you’re out running this doesn’t mater what’s so ever. For the price you get what you pay for and that is the BEST RUNNING SHOE out there!!! ... read more

Great colors and comfort but back of shoe a little low

I really like the show style and find it very comfortable. The back feels a little low, as in it hits my ankle less high than my other running / work out shoes. So far I haven't found it to be a problem, but something to get used to. ... read more

Too narrow forefoot area for me

The sole and generally the whole shoe felt alright but it is just too narrow. My foot couldn't move at all it's just too tight. I tested it in the morning for about an hour running easy pace (12-13km). A good shoe has to be wide enough to have a little bit of extra room to make sure on a long evening run is still roomy enough. Otherwise the sizing felt similar to other running shoes I used in the past. I am a master marathon runner (3:22) running about 100km per week, with wider than average feet. ... read more

Not sure if I got a bad one but while running I could feel my feet roll inwards. Also the outsole doesn’t offer traction in wet weather which is quite poor for a shoe as expensive and that promotes its continental magic rubber ... read more

Attaching the tongue to fabric inside the shoes to cover slits on either side is really impractical. It's very confining! Probably to cut costs, just like with the all-white sides of soles on the majority of running shoe styles. Disappointing. I miss the old Adidas' quality. ... read more

happy mistake

I never initially planned on buying these, but after receiving not one, but two pairs of incorrectly sized Supernova STs (ordered a size 9, was sent a size 10 that was actually a size 11), I decided to order these instead, in the same colour scheme as the Supernova STs. I'm glad that I received the wrong size Supernova STs, as these are much more comfortable and fit my super narrow feet better. They are definitely a nicer shoe as well. ... read more

Clouds, floating just off the ground, but still responsive,

Nice shoe, pretty light, comfortable, you feel in control with no ankle roll. I like them, but they are new, and only had 2 runs in them... so let’s hope they are this good in 20 runs time. I hope Adidas will make a Trail shoe feel as good as the Solarboost. Hint hint ... read more

I would love this shoe . . . so much potential

The shoe fits like a glove and is very comfortable with one exception . . . right in front of the laces, on the inside of the shoe is a seam that hits the top, right side of my left foot (left side of my right foot) - I wore the shoes around the house for a day and on day 2 I noticed it was very uncomfortable like a piece of plastic was rubbing against the top of my foot. When I took the shoe off, I had a very red, visible red mark - there is no way I could run in these. I wanted to love this shoe, the sole is great, the fit is great (runs just a bit large in length but not too much). This would be a great performance shoe if they could fix that one problem. ... read more

Comfortable and Speedy

I bought a pair of the original Adidas boost, the only criticism was the heel counter which dug into my Achilles. So when the Ultra Boost were released it was as though Adidas had designed them especially for me with the soft heel that pulls away from the Achilles. The Solar Boost is a kind of cross between Ultra and Energy with the best features of both. I was tempted by and even bought a pair from a rival company with a similar new heel design but in truth it was nothing like what I'm used to with the boost and with limited flexibilty. They went back and I bought the Solar Boost. Good decision! Are Solar Boost as comfortable as Ultra Boost? Probably not but they are designed as a running shoe not a fashion accessory and it was good to lose the plastic cage of the Ultra Boost than can dig in to your feet. If there is one fault I would suggest its the wear of the outsole which will wear out way before any other feature. The outsole of the original energy boost still have plenty more wear in them five years later so it would be great if Adidas could sort this one out. ... read more

Another fab boost running shoe

Straight out of the box, these were incredibly comfortable on my first run. In fact I forgot I was wearing new shoes. I’m a big fan of Ultraboost, but the Solarboost reviews were so good, I thought them worth a try. I was not disappointed. Probably as much bounce as the Ultraboost but with the extra boost sole under the forefoot, the ride is very stable and supported. I followed other recommendations and ordered a 1/2 size larger than my usual- this was good advice as they are a perfect fit. The wider forefoot area might not be ideal for someone with a narrow foot, but I found it perfect. The only reason I didn’t give full marks was there was lots of evidence of glue between the upper and the boost sole. I’ve not noticed this before in my Adidas shoes (although is my first pair of black shoes). Hopefully they will be as durable as my previous pairs. I look forward to many hours out running in them! ... read more
